Bullet Special Correspondent :
  After acquiring experience and proficiency in several beats, the Reporter is promoted as a chief reporter or a Special correspondent, who is a specialized reporter in his field and cover politics, economics, defence, aviation, banking , commerce, external affairs etc.
Bullet Editorial Writer :
  Commenting in the editorial columns of a newspaper on what is happening is mainly the job of an editorial writer, who may be an Assistant Editor, Resident Editor, Executive Editor, Editor or Editor-in-charge.
Bullet Freelance Writer :

Job Prospects :
There has been a tremendous proliferation of journals and magazines in recent times, and all of them need good writers. You may have observed the growing trend of several general magazines winding up while niche magazines continuing to flourish.
 
Essential Qualification :
In order to be good journalist, it is always advisable to pursue a post graduate degree in journalism from a reputed university. The Indian Institute of Mass Communication in Delhi offers a post graduate degree in journalism. Similarly, Jamia Milia University also offers a post graduate degree in journalism. Entrance examination is held once a year during the month of May.
 
Remuneration :
The salary structure in journalism is at par with any other consumer durable industry. To start up with a reporter in a newspapers can start with a salary of Rs. 8000 which will increase with experience. Similarly $ a sub-editor on the desk can start up with a salary of Rs. 5000 which will increase with experience.
